We need your help creating a shared, recognizable naming system for the lake’s coves, islands, landings, shorelines, and other distinctive areas.

Why CLWA is doing this
Many recognizable areas of Chebacco Lake do not have a single name that is consistently used throughout the community. CLWA is working to standardize names so residents, visitors, volunteers, and public-safety partners can identify a location quickly and refer to it clearly.
The names shown on the map are only initial proposals. We would prefer—and genuinely value—community knowledge before any name is finalized.
Many residents have lived here for decades, and some families have been connected to Chebacco Lake for generations. A cove or landmark may already have a traditional or informal name known locally but unfamiliar to the wider community. Please share it—and the story behind it—with us.
Select one of the numbered locations on the map.
Vote for the name you believe best fits that location.
Suggest another name and include its local history.
You may vote without signing in. Your choice will be associated with this browser so that only one selection can be active for each location. Signing in is strongly encouraged because it creates a more reliable participation record and makes future account-based features possible.
Voting is an important part of the process, but it does not automatically establish an official name. The CLWA Board retains final approval and may reject inappropriate, misleading, duplicative, commercially promotional, or otherwise unsuitable names. Historical context, geographic accuracy, public safety, and community feedback may all be considered.
The final names can eventually support CLWA maps, stewardship work, volunteer coordination, lake alerts, public-safety communication, community posts, and future watershed-management tools.
