More Than a New Look
The Chebacco Lake & Watershed Association is creating a new digital home for Chebacco Lake and the surrounding watershed community.
Although the new website introduces a modern design, clearer navigation, and an improved experience on phones and tablets, the project goes much deeper than appearance. It is being built to help CLWA communicate more effectively, organize important information, encourage community participation, and strengthen the organization’s long-term ability to protect the watershed.
Throughout the overhaul, one central question has guided the work:
Does this help CLWA strengthen its community, its organization, or its stewardship of the watershed?
A Clearer and More Useful Public Webiste
The public website is being redesigned to help people quickly find the information they need while encouraging deeper participation in CLWA’s mission.
Visitors will be able to learn about Chebacco Lake and its watershed, explore educational resources, review recreation and safety guidance, find upcoming events, understand current environmental concerns, and discover ways to become members, volunteers, or supporters.
Information that was previously spread across older webpages, documents, emails, and separate services is being reorganized into a more consistent and accessible experience.
The new public website will include:
• Clearer navigation organized around what visitors are trying to accomplish.
• A mobile-friendly experience for phones, tablets, and desktop computers.
• Educational articles about water quality, wildlife, lake history, safety, recreation, watershed science, and responsible lake living.
• Improved access to announcements, events, volunteer opportunities, membership information, and CLWA initiatives.
• A central location for lake conditions, environmental observations, alerts, and water-quality information as those resources become available.
• New ways for the community to share useful lake and watershed observations as community features are developed and approved.

A New Home for CLWA Articles
A major part of the overhaul is the creation of CLWA’s new article and content-publishing platform.
Authorized contributors can create articles using reusable headings, images, quotations, callouts, dividers, and rich text. This allows CLWA to publish information in a consistent and visually engaging format without rebuilding a webpage each time new content is needed.
Articles can be drafted, previewed, reviewed, revised, and prepared for publication through a structured editorial process. The platform also preserves revision history, helping CLWA understand how important public information has changed over time.
This system will allow CLWA to gradually build a lasting educational library covering subjects such as:
• Water-quality monitoring and results
• Cyanobacteria and harmful algal blooms
• Watershed science and restoration
• Wildlife and habitat
• Boating, fishing, swimming, and recreation
• Lake safety and responsible lake use
• CLWA projects, programs, and organizational updates
• The history of Chebacco Lake and its surrounding communities
“The goal is not simply to publish more content. It is to make trustworthy information about Chebacco Lake easier for the entire community to understand and use.”
Strengthening How CLWA Operates
The public website is only one part of the initiative. CLWA is also developing secure internal tools to help Board members and authorized volunteers manage the organization more effectively.
Over time, the platform will help CLWA centralize information that has historically been distributed across spreadsheets, documents, email accounts, and separate services.
These internal initiatives include:
Content management - Creating, reviewing, revising, and publishing articles and public announcements.
Membership management - Maintaining more accurate membership, household, property, and renewal information.
Board operations - Supporting documents, meetings, projects, tasks, forms, approvals, and organizational decisions.
Communications - Coordinating newsletters, event notices, member communications, water-quality updates, and other outreach.
Reporting and accountability - Providing clearer visibility into membership, renewals, engagement, volunteer participation, communications, fundraising, and progress toward organizational goals.
